Meet Dr. Adrienne Barnes
Adrienne Barnes, DDS
Being a board-certified pediatric dentist is immensely rewarding: I have the opportunity to deliver needed dental treatment in a caring and compassionate manner and help children to feel safe in the dental environment. I am excited when my patients have optimal dental health, and are educated and excited to keep their smile clean and bright!
Working with children is a lot of fun. Each brightens my day, every day, and I appreciate all the laughter and energy they bring to our office.
My hope is that by giving my all to each and every patient and family, I can impact their dental health and their life in a positive way.
Education, Experience, and Professional Affiliations
I have practiced dentistry for quite a number of years now. I chose the profession because I saw what a tremendous impact a wonderful dentist could have on a young person’s life. I experienced this first-hand as a college student: I had the best dentist ever! From that experience, I realized I wanted to have the same impact on younger generations.
I attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry, where I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I attended the University of Illinois College of Dentistry to obtain my pediatric dentistry certificate.
Dental school provided me with a fundamental understanding of oral health; my pediatric dentistry residency taught me about specifics related to children’s dental care. In addition to clinical knowledge, I also learned about child psychology and how to build trust with anxious children. I received advanced training in providing dentistry for children with complex physical, emotional, and mental health challenges, too.
Since completing the residency, I have actively sought out continuing educational opportunities locally, regionally, and nationally. A lifelong learner, I stay current on all advances in pediatric dentistry, in order to provide patients with the highest quality, proven treatment.
I am a member of the:
- American Association of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists
- Illinois State Dental Society
- Chicago Dental Society
These professional organizations offer numerous meetings, lectures, seminars, and other opportunities for me to learn from the leaders in children’s oral healthcare.
Beyond the Office
I have lived in Chicago for most of my life and love our community. I am married, with two adult children and a granddog named Sophie; she’s the best Goldendoodle!
Outside of the office, I treasure time with loved ones, activities with and through my church, practicing yoga, and learning to play golf. I am also involved with the Chicago Food Depository and the Salvation Army, organizations that feed the homeless and those suffering with food insecurity.
